Overall I feel that Pear is one of my strongest briefs in this module. I have produced several deliverables that met the brief and push the Pear brand into lots of different platforms. Areas for consideration were thought through thoroughly, looking into existing research of the audience and conducting newer research into current children's magazines on the market.
The publication is the strongest aspect of the brief. Two issues totalling 80 pages of design is a substantial amount of content for this brief. Having the magazines professionally printed and bound was a good decision and really benefitted the final outcome, although unfortunately the printers didn't take into account the design/spine when binding and some of the pages cut off in the middle. That being said, they were great value for money.
The plushies were also good value for money, although they aren't of an amazing likeness to their vector counterparts. I feel if there was more time and money invested into this project a more professional toy maker could have been contacted, but under these circumstances this wasn't feasible.
Creating the website definitely improved my skills in Adobe Xd and After Effects. The site exists to display all of the deliverables and bring a new platform to the Pear brand. The website itself is functional and displays all of the relevant information. It's easy for children to use with simple navigation and aspects of the Pear brand throughout. The website could be improved, and initial plans for the site included an activity page/forum that could be updated regularly and build up a real community surrounding Pear, children and parents. If more time was available to spend on this brief that could have been achieved, but unfortunately my skills in website design and time management didn't allow me to make this a reality.
Sticking to the budget for this brief was difficult, but manageable. With the amount of deliverables it was important to set an budget and timescale to ensure everything remained under control. As a large brief, the time scale didn't always go to plan and certain aspects of could have been improved (e.g. scale of website), but everything was finished on time to a professional standard.
