whiskey / research - flavours

Whiskey is a drink with a wide variety of flavours and types. It's important to appeal to the target audience with the correct kind of flavour that is associated with the branding itself. This image below shows the range of flavours of whiskey:

It could be most appropriate to have a more fragrant, floral whiskey due to the visual potential this could have for the brand. Whiskeys that have floral, delicate flavours are often light in colour and include:

Fruity and spicy whiskeys also have potential to have a strong visual appeal and could also have a seasonal slant. There is a bigger range of flavours as shown on the map, which correlate to the different colours of the whiskey and whether it is dark or light.

Full bodied and smokey whiskeys are at the top of the chart and are often a more orange colour. These flavours are rich and complex, and have potential to be visually represented by strong typography.

Every part of the production process influences the flavour of the whiskey, ranging from the distillery to the craftsmen.
