spectator / printing and binding considerations

The publication is 68 pages, which equals 17 pages of A3 paper. The images would look best on glossy stock, but this is limiting as double sided gloss isn't readily available. There is a thinner, leaflet style stock which could be suitable, but it would have to be tested to see whether the pages are opaque enough. The cover of the magazine could be in a thicker stock but still needs to be double sided as the inside cover is black.

The binding method for this large magazine also needs to be considered. Ideally, the magazine would be perfect bound with a thin spine, much like standard thick magazines. This method is quite costly and is not readily available. The other method that could be used is staple binding. This method is simple, cheap and easy to reproduce. It is also a study and trustworthy method to keep the pages together.
